Bringing up and having a purebred dog is a whole form of art, with its traditions and certain rules, which are being followed by dog breeders on national and international levels. For example, dog breeders #from France follow their traditions and stick to the way of naming dogs, which has been around for years. In this country, the purebred dogs are given their names, based on the year of their birth.
This system is called "one letter per year" and according to it, every year is being assigned with a special letter, from which the name of the dog should start (with the exception of such letters K, Q, W, X, Y and Z).
This system goes on and on in 20-year cycle, so, based on the first letter of animal's name, one can easily distinguish the birth year of a purebred dog (the information about which year has which letter could be easily found on the Internet).
